Before I get into it, would you just look at this flower?

These are some frosty nugs. You can see big trichomes (Weird word? Learn more here) popping in the close-ups. I headed up to Polanco Brothers to try something completely new, and I came away with this batch of Django from Sparkle (a Veterans Choice Creations brand). What got me interested in this strain wasn’t necessarily the packaging (a standard black bag with a white information label), but the brand had some curiosity-provoking options available. I’ll have to come back for their Tropical Banana (or Tropicana Banana) variety.
I chose the hybrid Django particularly for its lineage. It’s Jack Flash parent is a three-way cross between Jack Herer (one of my favorites for a more energizing experience), Super Skunk, and Haze. The other parent is the relaxing Blueberry, the original, true Blue strain (featured in our product guide Picking Your Flower). Ok let’s be honest, the name got me too. Was I gonna become “unchained” and break through to something unknown? I had to know.
Top Terpenes (from the Certificate of Analysis)
Limonene - lemon/zesty citrus, uplifting
Caryophyllene - pepper/warm spices, pain/anxiety relief
Farnesene – fresh green apples, soothing
Pinene – pine/green forest, focus
Aroma
Funky fruit and damp earthy musk, with a spicy herbal depth that sticks around. Fumes pour out heavy on the breakup and grind. This is some sticky for real - my fingers were coated in the scent and tack of resin from the crushed trichomes.
Taste:
Dank. Extremely dank. This thing’s got some stank. Best enjoyed dry herb vaped or outdoors (if you have nosy neighbors). I needed to have another bowl to figure out what else was going on here…pungent earth and herbs carry with a tiny bit of berry sweetness to round everything out.
Effects:
Mentally uplifting and stimulating on the first bowl, with a supportive (but not sedating) body mellow. I was a bit more giggly than usual, and felt creatively expressive and able to stay on task, which was a perfect pairing for winding down and drafting some notes for this entry. With another bowl, I felt much more physically and mentally relaxed. I tuned into a podcast before slowly fading into sleep (it was quite restful). The blend between the more energetic Jack Flash and cool Blueberry makes this cultivar a more “balanced” choice. A good fit for hanging out at a museum, park, or at home. You’ll be able to maintain enough focus to do more complicated tasks and creative projects too (if you don’t mind maybe a few fun diversions). Once you start enjoying multiple bowls, I’d push this into the relaxed/spacey/sleepy (but not “knockout”) category. Interestingly enough, I feel more of the strain as described on Allbud, while Leafly paints an almost exclusively upbeat and zippy picture of the flower.
